In 2017, Australia will introduce the world’s first open platform HPV-based cervical screening program, with reflex cytology. The National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC) has convened a cervical screening committee who have produced draft requirements for HPV testing, which will limit the number of different platforms available for testing based on clinical sensitivity, specificity, reproducibility and risk. This presentation will give an overview of the different tests, the basis for the draft requirements and what these results mean to a clinician.
