Associate Professor Dave Hawkes is a molecular virologist and Director of the Australian HPV Reference Laboratory at the Australian Centre for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer. He has been deeply involved in the validation and implementation of self-collection for HPV-based cervical screening, both within the Australian National Cervical Screening Program and in the wider Indo-pacific region.
