HPV is found in placentas and endometrium of women at birth. THis has been demonstrated by a range of histological techniques and now HPV genotyping is underway

A NZ retrospective cohort studies were analyses by logistical regression and  show a significant effect on adverse pregnancy outcomes of Pre Term Birth and Fetal Growth Restriciton

A decrease of 20%  Fetal Growth restriction and 10%Pre Term Birth was found in  36,025 vaccinated NZ women who  completed the course of quadrivalent vaccination

Whilst there is no associated  benefit of reduced  Pre Eclampsia rates, current research  suggest that HPV exposure during pregnancy does increase the risk of Pre Ecalmapsia .

Women are recruited to the Otago Placenta Study and the placentae aassessed for HPV infection and compared with normal pregnancy outcome controls

There is an macropgaeg C8 which is found in such placenta
