The diagnostic accuracy of colposcopy is difficult to determine in clinical practice as it is unethical to verify test negatives.  In the UK, the postive predictive value is the only diagnostic parameter that is used to benchmark practice.  New technologies have been advocated to not only improve sensitivity but also specificity.  The aim of the presentation is to review the evidence for new technologies and their potential role in a quality assured screening programme.
