HPV related oropharyngeal cancer is one of the most rapidly increasing cancer types known. The patient demographics and presentation of oropharyngeal cancer have changed dramatically over the last ten years. The prognosis of patients with HPV related oropharyngeal cancer is superior to smoking related tumours. These factors have lead to treatment paradigm shifts towards de-intensification and new modalities such as transoral robotic surgery (TORS).
